FUSION TRANSLATIONS CANADA – FUSION TRADUCTIONS CANADA

FTC is a professional translation and video production network. Our team consists of experienced translators and video editors skilled to work between the languages of French, English, ASL (American Sign Language) and LSQ (Langue des signes québéçois). Our text to video specialization offers various organizations, company’s, and the medias the opportunity to translate their spoken or written text into Sign Language for a variety of multi-media contexts such as DVDs, books, websites, television broadcasts, blogs, public announcements and more!

 

VISION 

Our Canadian private and public communications and media landscapes proudly made available in both Canada’s two official languages AND Canada’s two Sign Languages ASL and LSQ.


MISSION

·        To network with the community’ professional service providers and independent practitioners to provide quality translation and video production services that meet the specific needs of the client.

·        To empower companies, organizations and media outlets with the opportunity to translate any material of their choice into Sign Language.

·        To enhance the presence of ASL and LSQ in public communications spaces.

Terms and Definitions

ASL / LSQ Translator & Animator: A professional translator. They are responsible to work with the ME Interpreter in preparing the translation. They generate the ASL or LSQ coded script and perform the text on video. This individual is preferably natively Deaf with their first language being a sign language.

 

ASL / LSQ Translator & Message Equivalency (ME) Interpreter: A professional translator who works closely with the ASL/LSQ Translator & Animator to generate the translation. During shooting, they ensure high level of accuracy by double checking the signed message, with the original script and the agreed upon translation. The ME interpreter also acts as a cultural mediator and answers questions from clients and producers (or other production team members) regarding language choices and constructions in the translation.

 

ASL or LSQ & English or French Interpreter: This professional interpreter solely interpreters the live discourse between the parties on the set, or in the studio. They are not responsible to answer questions regarding the translation or act as a cultural mediator, in this context.
